Greetings, Cycling Fans.
Don and I appreciate your interest in the Castle to Castle Brevet and hope to see you in June for the second running of the event, Japan's original off-road bikepacking brevet.
Much as we'd like to add to the Castle to Castle series, our busy schedules prevent us heading out for more than one bikepacking weekend a year, a situation many other riders share, no doubt. So, for now, we'll keep it to just the single Castle to Castle.
New for this year is the One-day Brevet Series. These rides will be from 80 to 150 kilometers in length and vary from intermediate to advanced in difficulty. The routes will be mapped (stay tuned), and riders will be free to attempt the brevets at any time and on any bike they choose. (When Don or I plan to tackle one of the routes ourselves, we'll post an update to the blog.) It is hoped that riders will use Strava to record their efforts. Results will be collected and regularly updated on Japan by Bike. At the end of the year we'll hold a dinner party to swap stories and congratulate the individual brevet and series champions.
The route maps will be posted soon. Hope to see you on la course.
